WRBLSA Community Service Event "Save Darfur" on Thursday November 9th at U.C Hastings College of the Law.

National Black Law Students Association CS Day: "Save Darfur" at U.C Hastings: Short film Viewings and Question and Answer Forum with International Law Panelists.

Greetings !

"...the opposite of love is not hate, it is indifference." Elie Weisel-Holocaust survivor.

My name is Abiola Afolayan, National Black Law Students Association-Western Region Executive Director. Please honor us with your presence at the NBLSA Community Service Day event: "Save Darfur" on November 9th, 2006. The event will be at the 198 McAllister street building, Room C at the U.C. Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco, California from 6-8pm. Light refreshments will be served.

In light of the current genocide in Darfur, we hope to shed some light on the crisis through short film clips and a discussion forum with questions directed to our international law, human rights and humanitarian law lawyers and activists.

Self determination, life, liberty, and security of person are at the core of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, yet genocidal intent continues to pervade all parts of the world, first Auschwitz, then Rwanda, Guatemala, New Orleans, and now Darfur.

In honor of lives lost and those is strife, National Black Law Students Association-Western Region; law students from New College of California School of Law-Black Law Students Association, Jewish Students Association, National Lawyer's Guild; Boalt Hall-Black Law Students Association; San Francisco Law School-Black Law Students Association; and U.C Hastings College of the Law-Black Law Students Association realize that we owe it to humanity to take action.

On the above day we encourage all to wear RED as a sign of solidarity and the dire need for intervention in Darfur.

Please contact me at abiolaafolayan@hotmail.com if you have any questions.

Otherwise, I look forward to seeing you at the event!
