BJALP is dedicated to addressing legal and policy issues that affect the African-American community and people of color in general. BJALP deals with such matters as constitutional law, criminal justice, civil rights, African-American participation in the political process, the death penalty, fair housing, economic development in the African-American community, African and Caribbean immigration to the United States, health issues that affect African Americans, as well as issues affecting Africa and the African diaspora.
Please submit any previously unpublished book review, note or comment regarding legal, political, or social issues that you believe have impacted the African-American community.
If you are interested in contributing to the ninth volume of BJALP, please send us your submission as soon as possible. Articles will be reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis, with a final deadline of December 1, 2006. Those accepted by the BJALP editorial board will undergo two rounds of editing. The editing process may continue through Spring 2007. Final publication is scheduled for May 2007.
Articles submitted should meet the following requirements:
- The article must be sent in Microsoft Word format, as an e-mail attachment, to the following address: rpfeiffer@berkeley.edu.
- The article must be double-spaced and single-sided.
- The article must be in 12 point font and between (30) and forty (40) pages in length, with one inch margins. (Note: shorter pieces will be considered for the Book Review section of the journal.)
- Footnotes must be within the text (i.e. incorporated at the end of each page).
- Footnote citations should be according to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (18th ed. 2005).
- Statements made in the text must be supported by outside authority.
- The first draft of the article must be submitted by December 1, 2006.
- The second draft of the article must be submitted within two weeks after receiving BJALP’s suggested revisions of the first draft.
